Year 10 or 11 GCSE in Applied Business (One year Course):
At Key Stage 4 students follow the Edexcel Applied GCSE in Business. In term 1 students will complete their controlled assessment (Unit 1 Investigating How Businesses Work). This will be an in-depth study of how two businesses operate to achieve their aims and objectives. Students will visit the Leeds Rhinos stadium in Headingley, and gather information from the Brain Tumour Charity in order to complete their assessment. In terms 2 and 3 students will study for the external examination (Unit 2 Financial Records) whereby students will cover a range of topics such as profit and loss accounts and balance sheets. They will also investigate business documentation for both the supplier and the customer, and payment methods.
This course is assessed through a controlled assessment worth 60% of the final grade, and an examination worth 40%.
