The GORSE Academies Trust has made rowing a key sport and is creating its own boathouse for pupils on the River Aire at Woodlesford. All secondary pupils are given the opportunity to try rowing and the trust’s specialist rowing coaches work closely with British Rowing to ensure that pupils with talent enjoy opportunities to compete at the very highest levels.

Since its inception, the rowing programme has seen hundreds of pupils across the trust following programmes of indoor rowing, attending competitions and developing their overall fitness levels by attending extra-curricular rowing.  In addition to this, The GORSE Boat Club has given pupils the opportunity to try rowing on the water and to become a part of the squad, training throughout the year with the ultimate aim of competing in national competitions such as the British Junior Indoor Rowing Championships. A number of pupils from GORSE are now part of the elite national development programme.
