Student Leadership Team

At John Smeaton Academy, we are passionate believers in the importance of collaboration.

At John Smeaton Academy, we are passionate believers in the importance of collaboration.

For a school to be successful, everyone - staff and students alike - needs to be pulling in the same direction.

For this reason, student leadership and voice are a vital part of what we do. We have an active student leadership team which meets weekly to give formal feedback on the direction of the school.

In the first term, students will apply and interview for roles based on their strengths and interests. Working parties are formed around: Personal development, Teaching + Learning and Welfare. The ideal aim is to ensure representation comes from at least one student in every form.

In the second term, after roles have been established, the working parties will meet at least once each half term. The full SLT meeting will run at the end of each term. With restrictions within year group bubbles, this is possible virtually on TEAMS. This means they will be able to feedback and Q+A with senior leaders at the start of every term.
